The acclaimed builder of the VISION House® Tucson, and solar pioneer John Wesley Miller, is a national leader in energy conservation and green building practices. He has received numerous industry honors and awards for energy conservation and building quality during his 50 year career. John built the Biosphere 2 at the University of Arizona, designed and constructed scores of sustainable homes and buildings, and consulted with organizations across the country to promote green homes and advanced technologies.
John Wesley Miller began working with the University of Arizona’s Energy Research Laboratory in 1973. In 2002, the National Association of Home Builders’ National Green Builders Conference named John Wesley Miller the year’s Outstanding Green Advocate. John Wesley Miller has consulted with Pima County to promote a program for Tucson energy efficient homes and the use of solar energy, and with the University of Arizona’s Environmental Research Laboratory in developing new energy saving products and technologies. He continues to collaborate with the U of A departments of Architecture, Engineering & Urban Planning.
John proudly accepted the 2018 AEE Legends in Energy recognition from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). The Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA) presented John with their 2016 Legacy Award. In October 2015, John was awarded the Lasting Legacy Award by the US Department of Energy. Tucson Electric Power company recognized John with their Lifetime Contribution to Residential Energy Efficiency award, on February 12, 2014 in their inaugural BrightEE Awards ceremony.
